News Broadcasting

News broadcasters can greatly leverage SatMENA’s news on-the-pause (OTP) and on-the-move (OTM) solutions to complement their current technical systems. We at SatMENA understand that news broadcasters need to be on top of the event, streaming the highest quality video broadcast featuring jitter-free connectivity links, all while being economically feasible. Our solution targets all of the concerns in parallel by providing a hybrid DVB/IP solution which integrates the news broadcasting vehicles into the IP world through providing links for voice, video, and data in order to elevate the QoS profiles and ensure high streaming bitrates from SD, to HD, to UHD.

Focusing on the SOTM antennas and SOTM solution, our SOTM modem ensures high-quality transmission on-the-go where traditional and terrestrial links are otherwise unavailable. When designing our SOTM solution, we had one goal: point and shoot. The vehicle is no longer required to be parked in order to point the antenna and align-the-dish, therefore lowering the down-time of transmission and ensuring that the feed can be transmitted when needed the most. Similarly, news reporters can upload articles and share files back with head office on-the-go without the need to park the vehicle. All of the particularities involved are keen to boost the performance of news broadcasters in addition to enhance cost-of-ownership due to the reduction of indirect costs such as dedicated engineers and technicians and lowering news broadcasters’ idle time.

Satellite-on-the-Move Deep Dive

Our latest SOTM system is built on the most novel and highest-efficiency GEO and MEO satellite constellation whereby our solution will save news broadcasters money and manpower. This can be pertained to the ease of use of the system whereby video transmission can reach tens of Mbps on the uplink ensuring the highest quality of video streaming, especially when traditional links are overloaded, or otherwise unavailable.

Our news-on-the-move solution is built on the premise that live events are on-the-move more than ever and traditional news broadcasting solutions are not feasible for such applications given the lack of the ‘move’ factor. In this regard, we have introduced advanced OTM modems and antennas whereby connectivity links can be established within milliseconds and ensure the highest quality streamlined connectivity links on-the-go. The connectivity links can be utilized to operate traditional broadcasting applications in addition to extending towards monitoring IoT sensors such as fuel levels, vehicle temperature levels, and other warning levels.
